A Rainforest Encounter

A chance to visit Singapore, an ideal introduction to the Far East and peninsular Malaysia to visit “Taman Negara” reputed to be one of the oldest rainforests in the world. And after the adventure relax in Penang, the original holiday island.

In Singapore spend 3 nights to explore this island country – trace the footsteps of the founder, Sir Stamford Raffles through immaculately restored mansions and monuments; join old soldiers on a visit to World War II sites and memorials; ride on a bumboat (local water taxi) up the Singapore River, try some of the world’s finest pepper crab or try Perankan cuisine. A 5 minute walk from Orchard Road and the Botanic Gardens Traders Hotel Singapore has contemporary Asian style designed guest rooms which are perfect for value conscious travellers.

Depart Singapore by road over the causeway into peninsular Malaysia to spend an overnight in the historical city of Malacca – see the famous Portuguese Fort de Santiago, the antique shops along Jonker Street and Cheng Hoon Teng, the oldest Chinese temple in Malaysia; 2 nights in the capital of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, with giant shopping malls spliced with old colonial and Moorish architecture at the Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur, with breathtaking views over the KLCC Park and the Petronas Towers before beginning the three day adventure into the national park of Taman Negara. Here a local experienced guide will help you explore the jungle – try the canopy walkway, swim in a waterhole, fish or try rafting the rapids.

After the adventure escape to the Cameron Highlands before relaxing with 3 nights in the “pearl of the orient” Penang at the superb, newly re-opened Shangri-La’s Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa
